The Seven Years War

  • War between Britain and its allies, Prussia, against France and its allies,Austria and Russia. 
  • Fought over trade competition and colonial competition in the New World and around the world
  • Supposedly lasted seven years but it is still in debate
  • Caused over growing tensions over trade and colonial space.
  • Prussia did majority of the majority of the fighting in Europe holding off France. Russia and Austria on land. Britain fought mainly in India and The Americas, dominating the seas.
  • France and England made alliances with local Indian tribes to control America
  • The British and their Indian Allies ousted France from modern day Canada. They let them keep the Caribbean however
  • From Spain, who sided with France, they took Florida but not Cuba.
  • The war set England in a role to dominate world trade and colonial expansion to create the British empire.
